Unity A Social Capital Impact Assessment on SENDs Cooperatives in the Eastern Corridor

The Unity: A Social Capital Impact Assessment on SEND’s Cooperatives in the Eastern Corridor examines how cooperative groups influence livelihoods, community participation, and local development in Northern Ghana. The study evaluates the social outcomes of SEND’s food security work by focusing on trust, leadership, gender inclusion, and collective action within farmer cooperatives.

The assessment finds that cooperatives strengthen social capital by building networks, encouraging mutual support, and improving community problem-solving. Members reported stronger relationships, higher participation in decision-making, and increased confidence to engage with local authorities and development processes.
