People for Health Success Story Compendium (2016–2021) captures how the People for Health project shifted health accountability in Ghana through practical, community-led action. Implemented from 2016 to 2021 in 100 communities across seven regions, the project shows what happens when citizens, local authorities, and frontline health workers work side by side to fix real service gaps.
The compendium documents outcomes across maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, WASH, malaria, HIV/AIDS services, and health financing. You see clear links between community action and results. Clinics reopened after years of closure. Illegal health charges stopped after patients learned to demand receipts. Boreholes, toilets, child welfare clinics, and dams were built or restored using local funds and labour. Access to NHIS improved for vulnerable groups, including people living with HIV and older persons.
