Introduction

This report reflects SEND GHANA’s continued dedication to advancing good governance, gender equality, social protection, health, education, and agriculture across Ghana. In a pivotal election year, SEND GHANA implemented 13 impactful projects across 16 regions and 84 districts, directly benefiting over 200,000 individuals. Notably, the organization scaled up its Gender Model Family (GMF) framework, advocated for stronger public health policies, and empowered women and youth with innovative, inclusive programs.

Key Highlights

  1. Health & Nutrition – Improved healthcare for people living with HIV through community-led monitoring; advocated for a Public Health Emergency Fund; and promoted mandatory front-of-package food warning labels to enhance public health nutrition.
  2. Agriculture & Food Security – Strengthened resilience through climate-smart agriculture, child-labour-free cocoa initiatives, and fair trade advocacy; trained farmers in sustainable cocoa and facilitated access to credit and markets.
  3. Education & Youth Empowerment – Empowered adolescent girls and boys through the Power to Choose project; addressed menstrual poverty and stigma; supported new school infrastructure in underserved cocoa communities.
  4. Governance & Budget Advocacy – Mobilized citizen input into the 2024 national budget; doubled LEAP grants and increased school feeding funds; amplified civil society voices in SDG policy platforms and strategic partnerships.
  5. Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment – Promoted unpaid care work recognition and gender-inclusive policies; advanced financial inclusion through the WEACT and U-CARE projects; reached over 50,000 families and supported last-mile actors with financial tools and cooperatives.
