Purpose
  • To share findings of the NHIS report with  stakeholders at the district level and secure their commitments on identified issues.
  • To create an avenue for citizens to demand accountability from stakeholders with regards to the NHIS

Output

The following commitments were made at the end of the dialogue.

NHIS

The NHIS officials pledged to:

  • Increase coverage in the Municipality by making available a new office at Madina before the end of 2015.
  • Use announcement vans and stakeholder engagements to publicize information on the NHIS for the increased knowledge of citizens.
  • Discuss the possibility of establishing a zonal office with the Municipal director on establishing a zonal office
  • Collaborate with the department of social welfare and Assembly men to increase coverage for indigents

Presiding member and Assembly Members

  • Hon Nii Amarlai Mensah Botchway and Hon. Stephen Kwesi Aquah pledged to help the Department of Social Welfare identify indigents in the Municipality.
  • Hon Nii Amarlai Mensah Botchway pledged to assist the Department of Social Welfare with their budget approval 

Department of Social Welfare (DSW)

  • The DSW representative assured participants that LEAP beneficiaries will be enrolled on the scheme the coming year.
  • The representative also pledged to liaise with the Presiding and Assembly member in identifying and registering indigents in the municipality.

Health Personnel from hospitals within the Municipality

Health staff from hospitals within the Municipality pledged to

  • Educate pregnant women on the list needed for delivery and highlight the most relevant ones
  • Educate patients on medicines and services provided under NHIS subscription.
