  • Increase citizens’ awareness of what the budget is and its importance; national and local budget cycle and calendar as well as avenues for CSO interventions; how citizens could contribute to the budget and in holding Government accountable during their implementation.
  • Increase citizens awareness of the opportunities/entitlements offered to them in 2017 on education and health; how resources would be generated for its implementation; and progress made so far in the 2016 budget.

  • 100 participants (including 32 males and 68 females) benefited from the sensitization.
  • Participants had an increased awareness of the 2017 education and health sector budgets.
  • Participants took the opportunity to make inputs into the Municipal Budget for education and health for their electoral areas.
  • The sensitization also enhanced participants’ knowledge on the budget processes and to take advantage of it.
  • It further enhanced citizens’ interest in demanding transparency and accountability in budget implementation.
