| Description | The FILMA program is designed to address a number of interconnected challenges currently faced by young women and youth interested in the Agriculture and Agric-Adjacent Sectors (AAAS). These challenges are particularly prevalent in rural areas and include: CHALLENGE IYouth unemployment is particularly grave in rural areas CHALLENGE IILimited access to affordable credit and inclusive financial services such as savings, insurance, and pensions CHALLENGE III4 million of these young people work in agriculture and adjacent sectors CHALLENGE IVLack of access to resources, technical assistance and capacity building, market opportunities and a supportive ecosystem to flourish FILMA aims to stimulate entrepreneurship, increase productivity, and create sustainable economic opportunities by empowering financially excluded young women and persons with disabilities (Last Mile Actors – LMAs).
The goal is to reach 100,000 young people, aged 15 to 35 across 18 districts in the Volta, Oti, Bono-East, and Northern Regions to attain dignified and fulfilling work, with a focus on providing 80,000 jobs. Of the 100,000 people reached, 70% would be young women, and 5% would be persons with disabilities. |
