{"id":2295,"date":"2020-03-31T22:35:56","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T22:35:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sendwestafrica.org\/nu\/?p=2295"},"modified":"2020-03-31T22:35:56","modified_gmt":"2020-03-31T22:35:56","slug":"coronavirus-ghana-announces-special-life-insurance-cover-for-health-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sendwestafrica.org\/ghana\/coronavirus-ghana-announces-special-life-insurance-cover-for-health-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus: Ghana announces special life insurance cover for health workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Mar 29 , 2020 | Graphic Online<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ghana&#8217;s Health Ministry has announced a special life insurance cover for health personnel and allied professionals at the forefront of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic response.<\/p>\n<p>A letter signed by the Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu and addressed to all heads of the agencies within the sector, disclosed that that frontline staff involved in the COVID-19 response have been insured under Group Life cover with an assured sum of GHS 350,000 per life.<\/p>\n<p>Personnel attending to patients with critical illness have been assured a sum of GHS 25, 000 per life, while those who will treat persons with any form of disability have an insurance of GHS 10,000 per life.<\/p>\n<p>The entire premium of the insurance packages total GHS 10,309,919.94.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a health professional and allied professionals at the frontline of the COVID 19 response, I seize the opportunity to thank you and your families sincerely for the sacrifice to this national challenge,&#8221; the letter states.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Gormvernnet of Ghana would like to communicate to the Heads of Agencies that the frontline staff involved in the response have been insured under the [above] cover.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease note that the Allied Professionals include all men and women who have been deployed to respond to COVID-19.
