Deepening Linkages between Research, Advocacy & Media Practitioners in Ghana for greater policy influence and impact II project is being implemented to increase collaboration between Research, Advocacy and media organisations for evidence based advocacy on Aflatoxin control and management.<\/p>\n
The project seeks to advocate scaling up biological control technology interventions by extension officers and the Plant Protection and Regulatory Division of Ministry of Food and Agriculture to control aflatoxin contamination in both pre- and post-harvest crops so as to improve the health and income of farmers and their families and generate wealth in the crop value chain.<\/p>\n
To maximise impact and promote stronger linkages with other advocacy efforts as well as to facilitate sharing of information and expertise to maximize impact, the project was implemented in collaboration with Ecumenical Association for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (ECASARD), Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), Ghana News Agency (GNA), Public Agenda, Water Research Institute (WRI), Food Research Institute (FRI) and Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana.<\/p>\n
The expected outcome of project includes;<\/p>\n
1. Increased public awareness of the impact of Aflatoxin contamination on trade and health among smallholder farmers in particular and the public in general building on the district level experience during the first phase of the project.<\/p>\n
2. Increased advocacy by farmer associations, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and media practitioners for scaling up biological control technology interventions for aflatoxin control by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.<\/p>\n
This Project which ended in 2014 was solely funded by the Southern Africa Trust<\/p>\n
